The 11th Commandment of Ronald Reagan

Can this Presidential campaign get any stranger?

From CNN.com this:

WASHINGTON (CNN) — California Rep. Duncan Hunter, a former presidential candidate, announced Wednesday he is endorsing Mike Huckabee's White House bid.

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," Duncan Hunter said in a statement. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China’s emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America’s industrial base.

This endorsement has gotta mortally hurt a certain blogger here in Oklahoma, who is stuck on promoting Duncan Hunter still, nearly a week after his withdrawal from the Republican presidential race.

What makes the cream pie stick even more to his/her face, is that for so long a time, this other blogger has willingly, deliberately broken Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment, "Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican", while claiming to be knowledgeable about Reagan conservatism. Obviously wrong-headed, short-sighted.

Because for some months now, this blogger has denounced all other Republican candidates in the field, and mostly Governor Mike Huckabee. Now that the Reagan conservative Duncan Hunter has endorsed the Huck, what will, what can he/she do? Compose a glowing blog post, praising Hunter's endorsement of Huckabee now? Bring himself/herself to assail the Hunter endorsement of Huckabee? Not after today... so he/she is in a tight bind now.

That is what happens when you openly, brazenly break The Gipper's own '11th Commandment'; slinging mud at other Republicans in this race. Will this blogger reign in his/her just-below-the-surface rage and arrogance now that his/her national savior has endorsed his/her enemy in the '08 race?

My expectation is that he/she will divert attention away from Hunter's endorsement of Huckabee; maybe he/she will begin again to attack me. When he/she does so, remember this: He/She tends to sling vitriolic mud in anger, to draw away attention from his/her own failings. But again, in doing so, he/she continues to break that Reaganism, the 11th commandment.

The Local Malcontent knows from first hand experience, that this blogger has no problem going back on his/her word, breaking promises and covering his/her tracks. Denying his/her irresponsibility. Now that his/her irresponsibility is exposed, regarding Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment, proving that he/she is oblivious of true and natural conservatism, what will happen next? I expect that he/she will try to justify his/her attack blog upon me in some way.

"Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican."
Watch for the inevitable denial, regardless of the facts.
