Sandstone formation, exact location would be hard to pinpoint. Utah, Arizona, Glen Canyon, definitely in the canyon lands area of the southwest. Perhaps even Zion.

Interesting country all.

This picture was taken on a recent geology trip to Southwestern Utah (on Oct. 9, 2008). It shows the Navajo Sandstone at Coyote Buttes. This feature is called 'the wave.' This rock unit formed over 150 million years ago as wind-blown sand dunes in an ancient desert when all of the continents were merged together.
