Longtime Hooterville Postmaster Dead at 96

Sam Drucker has died.  He outlived virtually everyone else in Hooterville.
Shoot, come to think of it, he outlived
The Localmalcontent Bloggie.

Played by actor Frank Cady, Drucker was the only postmaster the Hooterville valley ever had.

I don't know if anyone who still comes by this dump has ever thought of this, but "Green Acres" was the mirror opposite of "The Beverly Hillbillies":

In one sitcom, the po' folks move to the Big City, and in the other, the rick folk move back to nature.

In both curiously, country living and country ways win out.  T'aint so strange now, is it??

Cady starred in one of my favorite B/W movies, "The Bad Seed".

I just saw him in an old Wagon Train episode on the Starz Westerns channel the other day. I for sure recognized the voice right off, and even though he badly needed a shave, it was obvious who it was!

Wagon Train... man, hadn't thought about that old series in such a long time.
But Jeffro, cant you look out your kitchen window and see the cattle headed to Abilene?

Take great care, dear friend~!
*say, have you deleted or 'spammed' my hacked emails to you?

I'm working on that mess, getting it cleaned away.

There is something to be said about country living and country ways. It is a simpler way of life where one's word still means a lot. But that was then and this is now. I sure hope we can find our way back to that time. I fear that they will be gone for ever if Obama wins a second term.
