It Seemed Like a Great Idea at the Time

Two summers ago, or longer now, when Bob hatched what he thought was his most brilliant idea ever:  A sprinkler system to protect his little frame house, but without any of the burdensome toil involving digging and laying pipes, or crawling through his narrow attic doing the same.

All it took was two garden hoses and some long staples, and two spray nozzles.
Total cost, then?  $23.75 and an hour of his (likewise limited) effort.

Total cost, now that the water hoses burst, wasting several tens of thousands of gallons water?

    Priceless.
