Five men honored in Oklahoma City yesterday for their contributions

to sports in our state, and in the nation.

Mick Cornett, current OKC mayor and instrumental in the creation of the OK. Sports Hall of Fame, as well as bringing the NBA, our Thunder to Oklahoma City.

Leslie O'Neal, a two-time All-American defensive end at Oklahoma State, O'Neal was the runner-up for the 1985 National Defensive Player of the Year. Eighth overall pick in the NFL draft and played 14 seasons with the Chargers, Chiefs and Rams.

J.C. Watts Jr., former OU quarterback who led his team to the 1980 national championship, Congressman and businessman. Played six seasons in the CFL with the Ottawa Rough Riders and Toronto Argonaughts.
**Preparing to announce his candidacy to run for the Senate seat being vacated by
retiring Senator Tom Coburn.

Darrell Porter, posthumously.  The Southeast High School product played 17 years in the majors with the Brewers, Royals, Cardinals and Rangers. Named the MVP of the 1982 World Series, as Cardinals' catcher.  Porter, also an All-State quarterback, turned down an opportunity to play football at OU to pursue pro baseball. Porter died in 2002 at age 50.

in the image above, check out Watts' cool, black cowboy boots~!
Man, won't it be fun to root for Watts again this summer?
Man, won't it be great for Watts to be elected again this summer?

MIKE-- I lost your comment by accident, deliberately. My apologies to you for this, please try again. You had said you had lost track of J.C. Watts for awhile ...,
had once hoped that Watts would be America's first Black President.

Well me too. Instead, look what we all got. Mr. Obama will go down as having taken the Black race in this country BACK to post-slave days status, because of his ego, his mastery of illusion, only and his incompetence.

Whoops~! I commented here, by way of another Gmail account, other than localmalcontent~@.

And thus had to quickly delete and reblog.
