Lovable Space Muppet At Home in Skye

Scotland now has a mysterious phenomena to rival the Loch Ness Monster as E.T has been sighted in a tree trunk.

The movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released by Steven Spielberg in 1982 and surpassed Star Wars to become the highest grossing film of all time.

The lovable alien, known as E.T., entered the hearts of movie-goers around the world - but now he has also entered a tree in Scotland.
Hotel owner Billy Harley, who runs the Uig Hotel on the Isle of Skye, found the amazing image of the wrinkly alien inside the trunk of a tree he was chopping to make firewood.

He said: "The weather has got a lot colder in the last week and I was getting some additional logs ready to keep the place warm for our guests.

"I put the chainsaw through a trunk and there was ET staring back at me. I phoned home and my wife brought a camera out to take some pictures."

"We're not quite sure what to do now. We could turn ET into a coffee table or a bar stool maybe."

The Uig Hotel is a popular destination for visitors to the Isle of Skye. The Harley family are now hoping that they'll attract more visitors to the island.

just another sign of the times

I wonder if that was the only slice that had that image? I would figure that the particular rings went up and down the trunk for at least a ways.

After the movie came out, I came up with several "ET Phone Home" jokes. One was corny and the others weren't fit for mixed company. -grin-

As most fans of the movie know, the little girl was played by Drew Barrymore, but most don't know the "Pretty Girl", the girl who had the classroom scene with Eliot, was played by Erika Eleniak, later a Baywatch beauty and the girl who popped out of the cake and then helped Seagal in "Under Siege". I used to think she was just about the prettiest woman I'd ever seen.
